If you follow internet consumption trends you’re already familiar with the fact that more people now use mobile devices such as phones and tablets, than traditional “desktop” or even laptop devices.
It’s one thing to read about such facts in the abstract, but sometimes a real-world example can help nail the point home.
I help manage a monthly “newsletter” email transmission for a client, to a generally receptive opt-in list of a few thousand people. This month’s email went out last week, and has now reached a point of rapidly diminishing returns. The vast majority of people who will open and read the email, have already done so.
We have the ability to track who opens these emails, who follows links contained in the email, and what type of device the reader is using, among other data points. This device usage graph (above left) speaks for itself.
